Nature and our intersections with it.

We go through our daily routines from morning to night and all that is around us becomes background noise. We drive through landscapes and don’t see them. Hawks fly overhead and we miss them. Tiny spring wildflowers carpet the roadsides or fill the edges of our yards, and we look right past them. There are uncounted opportunities to observe wild animals in action, even if it’s just a bumble bee foraging for nectar or a northern cardinal hopping along a tree limb. The land itself can always be admired, even if for a few minutes.

The natural world is more accessible than we sometimes think. In my photography I strive to bring the natural and human worlds into focus so we can appreciate what we are a part of. We all need more beauty in our lives and even in the suburbs, along the roads and downtown, it can be found. Many of the photographs on this site were taken in backyards and front yards. Some are taken in national and state parks where things are more rugged and require more effort and travel to see. My desire is to bring it all together. I hope you will enjoy these images and, more importantly, that they will give some joy.
